Dreaming of Provençal-style dolce vita? Make your way to Grignan, where an 18th-century bastide has been transformed into the ultimate holiday escape. Think poolside lounging, the sound of cicadas, rooftop views of the château, and slow strolls through the market—everything you need for a picture-perfect getaway.
A hidden gem in the heart of Drôme Provençale
“We’re right in the heart of the village—you can park the car when you arrive and forget about it. Everything’s within walking distance: lounging around the house, picking up fresh produce at the market or local grocery, dining on the ramparts, and wandering through the village discovering its many hidden historical gems.”
Nestled in the heart of the picturesque village it’s named after, La Maison Grignan is a well-kept secret where old-world charm meets modern comfort. Designed to host up to fifteen guests across eight spacious, air-conditioned bedrooms—each with its own bathroom and 4K screen (perfect for remote working, Provençal style)—the house invites you to settle into a rhythm of easy living. Think generous living spaces, a professional kitchen made for festive feasts, a private cinema, massage room, heated pool… and the simple joys too: foosball, ping-pong, or an impromptu pétanque tournament in the shade of the old stone walls.
All around you: 2,000 square meters of Mediterranean gardens, an outdoor kitchen, and a rooftop terrace made for gazing up at the château, standing tall in the background. And the cherry on top? A dedicated concierge service to arrange wine tastings, scenic hikes, or unforgettable dinners. It’s a grown-up playground—where time has a habit of slipping away.
Love at first sight
in the heart of the village
It was almost by chance that the owner—an interior designer by trade—fell under the spell of this 16th-century house, later expanded in the 18th. “The moment I stepped inside, I knew it needed to be brought back to life—without losing its soul,” she recalls. At the time, the house had been dormant for years, having once served as a girls’ boarding school. It was dark, chopped into small rooms, just waiting for someone to bring it back to life.
Today, you’re right in the heart of Grignan—perched at the top of cobbled lanes, with sweeping views of the château that once inspired Madame de Sévigné. It’s the kind of place where you park your car when you arrive… and won’t need it again until the day you leave.

that blends respect and boldness

To breathe new life into this historic property, the owner launched an extensive renovation in 2024, working closely with architect Monsieur Colonna. The vision? To blend authenticity with modern design. “We wanted to open the house up to light,” she explains. Walls came down, generous openings were added, and a stone pool with a pool house joined the scene. The result? A centuries-old bastide with timeless charm, reimagined through a sleek, contemporary lens.
Every detail has been thoughtfully curated to make guests feel like they’re in a vibrant, lived-in home—not a museum or a showpiece.
A décor
that takes bold leaps
Here, every room has its own identity—a little surprise waiting behind each door. The lady of the house is a treasure hunter at heart: antique crosses, protective Virgins, and Tibetan wedding chairs mingle effortlessly with sleek Italian furniture and pieces from the Serax collection. Minimalism? Not the vibe. “I want every room to tell a story,” she says.
With a Brazilian granite kitchen, carefully chosen curios, and one-of-a-kind finds, La Maison Grignan has a soul all its own. And a fun twist: some of the new pieces are quietly for sale through a catalog… the perfect excuse to take a bit of your holiday home with you.
