The perfect Périgord countryside home
for remote work

La Petite Maison Noire, nestled among the oaks of Périgord.

La Petite Maison Noire, nestled among the oaks of Périgord.

After exploring the Périgord in search of the perfect plot, the owner of La Petite Maison Noire faced a unique challenge: obtaining approval for a construction project on a UNESCO World Heritage site. Drawing inspiration from local heritage, they narrowed it down to two choices: the traditional Périgord house or the charred wooden tobacco barn. The latter vision brought La Petite Maison Noire to life. Designed in close collaboration with Sapiens Architects, the house features two bedrooms and two cabin beds, making it ideal for hosting guests and accommodating up to eight people.

Raised on stilts to preserve the soil, the ground floor of La Petite Maison Noire features a spacious suspended terrace, complete with a catamaran net that serves as a hammock, adding a touch of unique charm to the design. Inside, the home is thoughtfully equipped with a collection of books, a small speaker, a wood stove, a chess set, and modern conveniences such as a Mac screen, high-speed internet, and a desk with a view of nature. Whether working, reading by the stove, or strolling through the forest, La Petite Maison Noire offers something for everyone—especially remote workers seeking inspiration and tranquility.

Ideal for a family or professional retreat, it accommodates up to nine guests, offering a perfect base to explore the Perche region. Originally from the Basque Country, the owner sought a return to nature after the lockdown in Paris. She found her haven in the picturesque village of Verneuil d’Avre et d’Iton. Following an extensive renovation, the house now offers the perfect blend of comfort and charm, whether for remote work (one suite includes a dedicated desk), quiet moments reading by the stove, or children playing in their specially designed room filled with toys. A true nest in Normandy, Maison de Jojo invites guests to slow down and enjoy every moment.

Another countryside retreat worth discovering in the Perche, Maison French Bon Temps is a beautifully renovated longère (traditional farmhouse) with a modern wooden extension and a pool. Nestled on a three-hectare estate, it offers an ideal setting to enjoy fresh air with family or friends, accommodating up to eight guests.

Located just two hours from Paris, it’s the perfect refuge for city dwellers seeking a peaceful escape into nature.

Maison French Bon Temps is all about conviviality and good cheer. Renovated with the help of close friends and family, it has become a true hub for togetherness. For remote workers, the house is equipped with fiber optic internet and a dedicated office space.
