Hossegor, a popular seaside resort known for its fine sandy beaches, ideal surfing waves, and a blend of elegance and laid-back charm, is the perfect spot for a getaway. Nestled between the Atlantic and surrounding pine forests, it attracts water sports enthusiasts, nature lovers, and admirers of Basque-Landes architecture. With its saltwater lake, chic boutiques, and numerous restaurants serving local specialties, this gem in southwest France offers a stay that beautifully combines relaxation and adventure.
For your stay, head to Villa Sciurus, envisioned in 1930 by the Gomez brothers, iconic architects of the resort, and a shining example of Basque-Landes architecture. This large two-story house is just steps from the city center and the lake, located right next to the Sporting Casino, and features a spacious garden where squirrels frolic among the cork oaks—an enchanting wildlife that adds to the charm of the area.
In addition to breakfast on the terrace and daily housekeeping, each guest receives a bike to explore the beach, downtown, and the lakeside. As evening falls, enjoy a meal at Chez Jerome, a nearby oyster hut that’s a must-visit for a perfectly briny start to the night.

Another luxurious accommodation option, and certainly not the least, is Les Bords du Lac, the ocean house by Iconic House—an ideal retreat just steps away from the most beautiful waves of the Atlantic. This chic and sun-drenched space exudes a distinctly Californian vibe. The house features a large pool and is perfectly situated on the west bank of the saltwater lake, offering direct access to the legendary Plage Blanche (close to the famous Club des Pingouins), with the ocean and city center just a ten-minute walk away.
The location seems perfectly tailored to attract groups of friends, families, surfers, golfers, and other aesthetes in search of a new hotspot for an idyllic stay in the region.
The contemporary pool of Villa Arranca.
The third property to discover here is Villa Arranca, which stands out with its contemporary exterior and expansive gray pool. A haven designed for 14 guests, whether they’re surfers for a day or for life. Located on Boulevard Front de Mer, this unmistakable address only confirms the exceptional setting of this paradise, nestled between the vast Culs Nus beach and Gravière beach—two of the best surf spots in the region. The Capbreton Fish Market, the quirky vineyard of Domaine de la Pointe, and the neighboring Basque Country…
Villa Arranca also serves as a base to explore the region and its many points of interest, although it’s true that one might be tempted to leave the car in the garage—the (beautiful) life at Villa Arranca can be best enjoyed on foot or by bike…
Inland, enjoy a Landes vacation between Dax and Mont-de-Marsan.
There’s more to the Landes than just the ocean. In the heart of the region, you’ll find stunning landscapes that are well worth the visit. In Dax, you can take a break to enjoy the thermal baths and hot springs, stroll through the covered market—filling your basket with foie gras, duck breast, and a Landes tourtière for dessert—while also admiring the Roman arenas…
Just 40 minutes south of Dax, you’ll find the Domaine de l’Ermitage—formerly a barn and stables—a stunning property featuring a saltwater pool, concierge services (which can arrange activities, restaurant reservations, and more), a jacuzzi, a soccer field, and a 400m² panoramic terrace.

Just 15 minutes from the ocean, in Magescq—a small village situated between Dax and Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains—you’ll find Maison de Magescq, an 18th-century manor house nestled within a vast wooded park. Inside, the rooms are perfectly renovated and contemporary. With six en-suite bedrooms and a dormitory, this property is ideal for large families.
Here, the only sounds are the birds singing and the Bidouze River flowing alongside the estate. In front of this bucolic landscape, you might almost forget that you’re just 30 minutes away from Hossegor.
