Nestled in the lush hills of the Axarquía lies Casa Cariño, a quintessential Andalusian villa. With its generous living spaces, sprawling 7,000 m² garden, inviting pool, and sweeping views of the mountains—and sometimes even the sea—everything here is designed for relaxation and outdoor living.

An Andalusian villa between the sea and the mountains

"There’s a real sense of total freedom here — as if you’ve stumbled upon Eden. The interiors are stunning, with the warm, welcoming charm of a friend’s beautiful home."

Set among the lush hills of the Axarquía, in the hinterland of Málaga, Casa Cariño is a true invitation to unwind. With 200 m² of living space, four en-suite bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, indoor and outdoor lounges, a 7,000 m² garden, and breathtaking mountain views (with glimpses of the sea on clear days), this Andalusian villa ticks all the boxes for a perfectly peaceful getaway for eight.

Special shoutout to the curvaceous pool, the lounge areas perfect for chilling in the sun or shade, and the outdoor bar made for stargazing with a drink in hand… At Casa Cariño, life flows just as effortlessly outdoors as it does in.

Between mountains and palm trees, Casa Cariño.

Casa Cariño is, above all, a love-at-first-sight story. Its owners were house-hunting in the area when they instantly fell for this white-and-ochre villa, a true Andalusian gem. It was around the year 2000, and the English architect who owned it at the time had designed it for his own vacations — a one-of-a-kind home, with a surprising tower, spacious rooms, and plenty of character already.

But before they could enjoy it, there was work to be done. For several months, they carried out a meticulous renovation, driven by one simple goal: to preserve the authenticity of the place while adding modern comfort. Exposed beam ceilings, vintage tiles, carved doors… every detail was carefully restored or repurposed. And to top it off, modern amenities were thoughtfully added: double ovens, natural cooling with ceiling fans, and a fireplace for those chilly evenings.

Local tradition
and boho-chic décor

When it comes to décor, the focus is on softness. Natural materials — linen, rattan, raw wood — blend with warm, earthy tones that echo the surrounding nature. Handwoven rugs, light fixtures made from plant fibers, plush bed covers, and an abundance of cushions create an atmosphere that feels both exotic and comforting.

But the house isn’t just beautiful — it’s alive. Every object has its own story, carefully sourced from near and far, whether in Andalusia or beyond. “It’s not a static décor; it’s a home where people live, laugh, and linger.”

Once you’ve explored every nook and cranny of the house (and tried out all the sunbeds!), there’s still a thousand things to discover nearby. Just four kilometers away, the charming village of Canillas de Aceituno offers an immersion into authentic Andalusia, with its whitewashed streets, bustling markets, and generous tapas.

Nature lovers, take note: El Saltillo — a 54-meter-high suspension bridge clinging to the mountainside, reachable via a spectacular hike — is an absolute must-see.

For water activities, Viñuela Lake is just a 30-minute drive away, perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply enjoying a lakeside picnic. And of course, the Mediterranean is never far: the beaches of Torre del Mar are only 30 minutes away, ideal for a refreshing day by the sea or an evening stroll along the promenade. Andalusia never ceases to dazzle travelers!
