Chalet Christiania

In 2021, when Aurélie and Marie undertook the renovation of Chalet Christiania—named after the original sheepfold and the skiing technique ‘Christiania’—with the help of Chalets Bayrou, they didn’t just give it a facelift but also added an extra floor.

Now standing at four levels, Chalet Christiania is designed to accommodate large groups. The basement features a leisure and wellness area, including a pool, spa, cinema room, fully equipped ski room, and gym—everything you could ask for in a mountain getaway.

The main living area is located above, along with a spacious suite. On the first floor, you’ll find four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. At the very top, the children’s favorite, is the dormitory, alongside a second suite and two bathrooms. With such a well-thought-out layout, there’s no more rushing in the morning as everyone gets ready for the slopes!

To furnish the chalet’s interiors, Marie and Aurélie brought their impeccable taste to the forefront. The result? A decor that strikes the perfect balance between contemporary elegance and cozy warmth. The space highlights raw materials like larch wood, local stone (the living room wall was built by their grandfather!), Aprin wool, and Luzerne stone, especially notable in the spacious kitchen.

The grand living room is anchored by a striking black fireplace, complemented by a cozy bay window—Marie’s favorite spot for reading by the fire, with a book from the well-stocked library.

Upstairs, each bedroom boasts its own unique character, with a palette of colors that echo the surrounding mountains: taupe, gray, and beige. One thing remains consistent—every room is spacious and outfitted with luxurious bedding that guests will fondly remember long after their stay. It’s an undeniable success!

The Dode family has mountain life in their blood! As granddaughters of avid Les Deux Alpes enthusiasts—where their grandfather was both a ski instructor and one of the pioneers of local hospitality—Aurélie and Marie know the area like the back of their hand. “With its glacier, the largest in Europe, and 200 kilometers of slopes, most above 2,000 meters, Les Deux Alpes is an ideal skiing destination year-round.” Yes, you can even ski here in the summer!

Beyond skiing, the resort offers a range of winter activities: snow biking, exploring ice caves, snowshoeing, and night hikes—often rewarded with a slice of blueberry pie and mulled wine at high altitude. In the summer, there’s hiking, paragliding, and lake swimming… No matter the season, Les Deux Alpes is full of adventure.
