"The house in a few words? Authenticity, charm, and the art of living!"

La Maison de l’Architecte et du Tapissier truly lives up to its name! Born from a lifelong friendship and a family legacy, its story begins with Hugo Bosc and Monsieur Abelin—a renowned architect and upholsterer—whose sons, Arthur and Jean Bosc (founders of Bosc Architectes), along with interior designer Marc Abelin, undertook its renovation in 2024. Nestled in the heart of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence’s historic center, this 18th-century mansion was once home to the town’s longtime physician, who used it as both his practice and residence.

Today, this stunning vacation home is designed to welcome eight guests across four spacious 36 m² suites. The ground floor features a cozy living room with a fireplace, an elegant dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. The highlights? The terraces—one of which features a small plunge pool, perfect for summer—complete with an outdoor kitchen, sun loungers, and a large table for festive meals overlooking the Provençal town. And to top it all off, a dedicated concierge service ensures a seamless stay. No doubt about it—the architect and the upholsterer know how to host in style!

To give the building a fresh new look, the Bosc brothers preserved the original stone structure and added a tower that, thanks to the use of matching materials, feels as if it has always been part of the design.

They collaborated with local craftsmen to bring the project to life—Atelier Anastay in Saint-Rémy for the marble basins, Tonello in Arles for the mosaics, and Aprin (also based in Saint-Rémy) for the masonry. The only exception? The kitchen, designed by renowned Italian designer Boffi. The floors feature a mix of traditional Provençal terracotta tiles, stone, and solid wood parquet, adding warmth and authenticity.

“The artisans of Saint-Rémy poured their hearts into working with the finest regional materials to preserve the home’s authentic Provençal charm. Every detail was approved by the Architects of France to ensure the historic spirit of the place was fully respected.”

"The 360° rooftop lounge offers a breathtaking view of the Alpilles, the Luberon to the east, Mont Ventoux to the north, and the Montagnette to the west, creating a magnificent setting to watch the sunset and enjoy the cool night air around the fire pit under a starry sky."

An interior design
by Marc Abelin

The interior design showcases a meticulous search for unique elements, curated by Marc Abelin, an interior designer and the grandson and son of renowned upholsterers. The space is furnished with carefully sourced pieces from the Saint-Ouen and L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue flea markets, complemented by original artworks—including several paintings by Michel Abelin himself and Vincent Alran, a Montmartre artist. Thoughtfully selected, and sometimes custom-made, decorative pieces—such as the striking “broken” mirror in the living room—add to the home’s elegant and one-of-a-kind ambiance.

In one of the suites, designed with the feel of an artist’s studio, guests can admire technical drawings by Marc Abelin’s father displayed on the walls.”The lighting was carefully designed to awaken this beautiful sleeping beauty, whose stones are steeped in history. Boffi, Meljac, Dumas, Linvosges, Maison Empereur—these are the trusted brands we relied on to perfect the home’s interiors.”
