"The views from the estate are breathtaking, creating the feeling of being perched right above the sea."
South of Bastia, on the eastern coast of Corsica, lies La Vignarella, a two-hectare estate bordered by the Mediterranean Sea. This exceptional property features four modern villas with sleek, minimalist designs, seamlessly blending contemporary architecture with the natural landscape of pine and olive trees. Three of the villas—Magazinu, U Bagnu, and A Lumaga—each offer three bedrooms and three bathrooms, while the largest, La Vignarella, boasts five bedrooms and four bathrooms, providing ample space for a truly serene getaway.
Available for rent individually or as a whole, each villa at La Vignarella comes with its own private pool and garden, offering a secluded retreat for up to 28 guests. What’s on the agenda? A dip in the Mediterranean just steps away, a nap under the shade of an olive tree, barbecues, pétanque… all while enjoying the services of a dedicated concierge. Life in Corsica doesn’t get much better than this, does it?
The story
of La Vignarella
The pool at the La Vignarella villa.
La Vignarella (“the little vineyard” in Corsican) owes its name to a small vineyard that once thrived on the estate. In the early 20th century, fishermen’s cottages were built on the land, only to be abandoned for decades. Then, in the mid-1960s, the grandfather of the current owners acquired the property. Half a century later, a full renovation began under the direction of Parisian architect Vincent Leprince. The result? Sleek, contemporary white villas that blend seamlessly into Corsica’s natural landscape.
The other villas were named with just as much thought! U Magazinu (“the shop”) pays tribute to a small beach store that once supplied local fishermen. U Bagnu (“the bath”) was named after the villa’s location, built on the site of the old showers. And finally, A Lumaga (“the snail”) is a playful nod to the estate’s former caretaker, whom the family’s children fondly nicknamed “Arnaud the Snail.”
A touch of California vibes at La Vignarella.
From fishermen’s huts
to contemporary villas
The architecture of the villas at La Vignarella is defined by clean, minimalist lines, designed to harmonize seamlessly with the surrounding landscape while offering breathtaking sea views. Each villa is thoughtfully positioned to provide unobstructed vistas and maximum privacy, ensuring that every guest can enjoy the Mediterranean without any overlooking. La Vignarella, in particular, features a vast 100 m² living room, opened up by a striking ten-meter-wide glass door, creating a seamless connection between indoors and out. Natural light floods the space, accentuated by modern, airy materials such as white polished concrete, complemented by Brazilian wood furniture.
The interiors pay tribute to local art and culture, with each villa showcasing carefully curated pieces. U Magazinu features works by painter Greg Hanna, U Bagnu stands out with pieces from a pioneer of nuagisme, and A Lumaga displays works by a post-impressionist artist known for capturing the essence of Corsica. Teak furniture, handcrafted beds from Bali, and natural materials throughout the homes reflect deep attention to detail and a commitment to comfort.

Corsican-style
vacations
On the estate, over one hectare is home to young olive trees.
La Vignarella offers more than just a seaside retreat—it is also perfectly situated for exploring the natural and cultural treasures of eastern Corsica. Just a short walk from the property, fine sandy beaches invite guests to swim, indulge in water sports, or explore the underwater world with a mask and snorkel. For hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, the region’s coastal trails offer breathtaking views of both the sea and the mountains.
Nearby villages, such as Patrimonio, are well worth a visit to experience Corsican traditions and sample the island’s renowned wines. Nature lovers will find endless adventures in the Corsica Regional Nature Park, where rugged mountains, dense forests, and panoramic vistas create a spectacular backdrop. And for those who love local flavors, the area is dotted with charming shops and markets offering Corsican specialties—from artisanal cheeses and cured meats to olives and exceptional local wines. With young olive trees planted on the estate, it might one day be the estate’s very own olive oil that holidaymakers will have the chance to savor!
