Built in the 1990s and fully renovated in 2021, this chalet is perfectly situated facing the lake in Courchevel and close to the village. It is owned by a family of hoteliers who take great care of their 14 guests from the beginning to the end of their stay.

"The sunset over the mountain is breathtaking."

Having owned and managed the Hôtel Les Peupliers—an iconic establishment in Courchevel—for four generations, Alexandra and her sister Jessica have inherited a deep-rooted passion for hospitality. Their expertise shines through in their collection, Les Chalets de Jann, located in Courchevel Le Praz. These chalets offer the charm of a private rental, combined with the services and attention to detail you’d expect from a luxury hotel.

One of these properties, Le Moulin, was once the house where their grandfather accommodated the hotel staff. Today, it has been completely transformed into a luxurious chalet by Lyon architect Rémi Giffon, perfectly blending understated elegance with the cozy mountain charm we all love. Spanning four floors, Le Moulin comfortably hosts 12 adults and two children in six spacious suites. It’s equipped with everything needed for an ideal ski vacation: an outdoor spa, ski room, fireplace, hammam, cinema room… and, best of all, it’s just minutes from the village’s restaurants, shops, and ski lifts. Time to hit the slopes at Le Moulin!

Built in the 1990s, Le Moulin takes its name from the old mill that once stood on the same site. Originally serving as a family home and accommodation for the staff of Les Peupliers, Norbert, Nadine, Jessica, and Alexandra decided to breathe new life into it in 2021.

Who better than Atelier Giffon to support them in this project? The team envisioned a chalet that is both authentic—using local materials like native stone, larch, and original elements such as the framework and clerestory windows—and timeless, bringing in modernity through large openings that frame the landscape and sleek lines inside. ‘A heritage sensitivity oriented towards a more contemporary dimension,’ as Alexandra puts it.

The chalet 2.0

Atelier Giffon has also left its mark on the chalet’s interiors. To inhabit these large spaces that open up to the landscape, the team let the imagination of painter Gilles Giacomotti run wild, dressing the entrance of the main room with white trees, echoing the chalet’s natural surroundings. Accompanying the artwork, drop-shaped light fixtures extend toward the floor, reminiscent of morning dew. Around them, furniture with curved shapes reflects the contours of Lake Courchevel. Nature seamlessly integrates into the chalet, much to the delight of the eyes!

In the bedrooms, fabrics featuring tartan patterns evoke the warm spirit of the mountains. Each suite reveals its own color palette: woodsy browns and misty grays, old rose and fir green. The result? A unique atmosphere, far from the uniformity of hotel rooms, while still offering the benefits of intimacy, comfort, and a host of services.

A chalet hotel

As true heirs to a family of hoteliers, Alexandra and her sister were committed to providing their guests with a stay as comfortable and effortless as any luxury hotel—if not more so. And they’ve succeeded! Alexandra takes care of every detail before guests even arrive, from restaurant reservations to activity bookings. Just ask, and it’s all arranged!

Each morning, guests gather for a breakfast prepared by the housekeeper: pastries, fresh bread, local cheeses, yogurts, and fruits—just what they need to fuel up before hitting the slopes. Throughout their stay, a butler is available to cater to every need, whether it’s an afternoon snack after skiing or an aperitif by the fireplace following a relaxing massage in the spa.

Holidays in Le Praz

The mountain calls us at Le Moulin!

The mountain calls us at Le Moulin!

Le Praz, the first of the four levels that make up Courchevel, is a charming little village that thrives year-round. In winter, guests appreciate its proximity to the slopes, allowing skiers to finish their day right at the chalet’s doorstep. With 150 kilometers of pistes in this renowned ski area, there’s no chance of getting bored. For those who aren’t into skiing, the options are endless: hiking, ice skating, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and tobogganing—making it a perfect vacation for families and friends alike.

Another advantage? The nearby shops and gourmet restaurants, perfect for grabbing a crepe or indulging in a fine meal. Our favorite, though, is hiring a private chef to prepare a delicious dinner, watching the sunset from the terrace before sitting down to eat—and doing it all again the next day!
