Just 25 minutes from Chartres and an hour from Paris, a beautifully renovated designer country house. What’s on the agenda for this countryside escape? Strolling through the garden, lounging by the pool, cozying up with a good book by the fire… Accommodates 10 to 12 guests.

The ultimate family countryside home

"The house is truly exceptional, offering a deep sense of tranquility—yet it’s just a stone’s throw from Paris!"

Behind Maison Padrig is a heartfelt family story, brought to life by Tom and Laura. After their father’s passing, they set out to fulfill his dream of owning a large home in the South where he could welcome friends and family. Their search led them to the charming village of Neuvy-en-Dunois, in the heart of the Centre-Val de Loire region.

The 1950s house was in need of a serious refresh, so Tom and Laura rolled up their sleeves—with the help of architect Bertille Bordja from Ovo Studio. Their vision? To bring nature indoors through expansive openings, making the outdoors a constant presence. The result: a beautifully transformed country home, perfect for families and groups of friends, accommodating up to 12 guests plus two children. At Maison Padrig, the tone is set by relaxation, nature, and serenity.

Family
business

Before becoming the beautiful countryside retreat it is today, Maison Padrig underwent three years of renovation in collaboration with architect Bertille Bordja. “The house dates back to the 1950s. Back then, there was a farm with a small house beside it for the residents. Over time, the two buildings were joined, and a second floor was added. The staircase connecting the ground floor to the upper level actually came from a local church,” explains Laura.

Designed to host large groups while giving everyone space to unwind at their own pace, Maison Padrig features a spacious living area that brings together several inviting corners: a reading nook with a built-in bench and library—perfect for napping, a cozy living room for fireside lounging, a warm dining area with a large wooden table made for lingering dinners, and an open kitchen that invites everyone to cook together. All of it opens generously to the outdoors, ideal for soaking up those long summer days.

A refined
decor

To decorate and furnish the newly renovated home, Laura, Tom, and Arthur (Laura’s husband) opted for light colors and natural materials, creating a bright and serene atmosphere throughout. Special mention goes to the green kitchen, which brings a bold pop of color to the living space, complete with 1970s-inspired touches that give it plenty of personality. Each bedroom has its own unique palette, while the overall mood remains soft, cozy, and inviting.

Arthur, who works with the architecture and art studio Grand Bureau, naturally had a hand in designing a few key pieces—like the custom-made oukoumé dining table by Antoine Ricardou. As for the rest? A curated mix of hidden gems gathered over the years, vintage china, and retro posters—“To give the house soul,” as Laura puts it.

"The name of the house comes from our father's name, Patrick in Breton, and his love for Brittany!"

The countryside
just an hour from Paris

The town of Bonneval, just a few minutes’ drive from Maison Padrig, is full of local gems—generously shared by the owners.

“Every Saturday morning, the market brings the church square to life, offering a great selection of organic and farm-fresh goods from nearby producers. Just around the corner, Les Vergers de Beauce stocks a wide range of regional specialties—often organic, always delicious. And for a charming way to explore, rent an electric boat and glide through the town’s canals—an idyllic ride that shows off all the beauty and charm of Bonneval.”

To extend the experience, a cooking class (sustainable, of course) or a stained-glass workshop can be organized at the house. And for a few days of remote work in the countryside, the house features a charming little office space and excellent Wi-Fi.
