In the heart of the Empordà, nestled in a lush Mediterranean garden, Mas Pla de Calabuig reveals itself as a discreetly luxurious holiday home, thoughtfully designed for families and groups of friends. A harmonious blend of comfort, heritage, and above all, deep serenity.

A Catalan haven for getting back to nature

"Just come and enjoy the freedom of doing nothing. Sometimes, by doing nothing, you're doing everything."

Could this be the ultimate Catalan holiday home? Set on five hectares of lush greenery, Mas Pla de Calabuig is made up of three houses and a studio—a harmonious blend of Tuscan, Californian, Empordà, and Moroccan influences—offering over 700 square metres of living space in total.

The Mediterranean garden, designed around a saltwater pool and shaded pergola, invites leisurely strolls among orange trees, palm trees, and olive groves. In summer, guests can even pick seasonal (and organic!) vegetables straight from the garden. A true paradise—one that up to 14 guests may find hard to leave, even for a day. To ensure the ultimate at-home experience, the owners have curated a selection of top-tier, hotel-style services…

An unexpected
crush

The story of Mas Pla de Calabuig began with a love affair. During an impromptu visit, the owners—an industrialist from Barcelona and an interior designer—were instantly captivated by the beauty of the estate. They knew right away it would become their future family retreat.

“We fell in love with the place at first sight,” they recall. And so began a passionate journey to transform the property into the perfect setting for family holidays. Their dream? To create a place where their children and grandchildren could gather for years to come.

A renovation
thought through to the last detail

The renovation of Mas Pla de Calabuig was carried out in 2020 by Spanish interior designer Carme Pardo. Working closely with the owners, they reimagined the building while preserving its “soul” and infusing it with discreet luxury and refined elegance.

The result? A home where every detail is designed to offer both comfort and visual harmony. Noble materials, soft tones, and open spaces blend seamlessly with the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

A taste
for beauty

The interiors of each house and studio have been thoughtfully designed, with a keen eye for detail and a love for noble, handcrafted materials. The pool house, for instance, draws inspiration from Moroccan architecture, featuring desert-sand stucco walls, antique doors, and wicker ceilings handcrafted by local artisans.

“Each room tells a story, each piece of furniture has a soul,” explain the owners. The studio, in particular, captivates with its brightness and light. “It’s a space where you feel at peace, as if time has stopped,” they add. A true haven for design lovers.

Explore
l’Empordà

The Empordà, a land of contrasts and varied landscapes in north-eastern Spain, is the perfect playground for lovers of nature, culture, and history. Just minutes from Mas Pla, the beaches of the Costa Brava—think crystal-clear waters, hidden coves, and soft sand—promise an unforgettable experience. For hiking enthusiasts, the surrounding hills and scenic trails offer a whole new way to explore the region.

And for those with a taste for good food, the Empordà is full of restaurants where you can enjoy delicious Catalan cuisine. “Here, everything’s possible—whether it’s lounging by the pool, wandering through the garden, or heading out to explore,” say the owners. Prefer to stay in? With the help of a thoughtful concierge service, you can arrange a private chef, book activities, and enjoy a little well-deserved pampering.
