“The Mirror Houses are perfect for architecture lovers and nature enthusiasts."

Seasoned travelers to Italy know that one of the main highlights of this destination is its cuisine, and the province of Bolzano offers a delightful fusion of Italian and Austrian flavors. Here’s a brief, non-exhaustive list of must-try specialties: Schlutzkrapfen, ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta, and tirtlan, small fried pastries filled with cheese, spinach, or potatoes, best enjoyed alongside the region’s wines (with over 51,000 km² of vineyards here).

If you prefer to stay in and savor these local dishes at home, both kitchens at Mirror Houses are fully equipped for preparing a feast. Another option: dine out at one of the many local restaurants. The owners have excellent recommendations to share, like Wirtshaus Vögele, known for traditional Tyrolean dumplings, or Schöneck, a Michelin-starred restaurant where the Baumgartner brothers introduce fine diners to the classic flavors of South Tyrol.

Owned by Angela Sabina Staffler’s family for generations, the estate became home to the Mirror Houses in 2015. Designed by architect Peter Pichler, the project was conceived to integrate local craftsmanship into a contemporary, even futuristic, design. “The unusual shapes and modern materials make the architecture of the houses truly captivating.” Upon completion, the Mirror Houses received widespread critical acclaim. Unlike traditional buildings, these structures seamlessly blend into their environment, almost disappearing into the landscape. The clever use of materials allows the natural surroundings to take center stage.

The interiors are equally defined by design, simplicity, and beauty. Guests can relax in a Plank chair or curl up on the Ghost sofa by Gervasoni, illuminated by an Artemide lamp. Thanks to the large windows, the boundary between inside and outside feels fluid, allowing guests to constantly enjoy the stunning scenery.

Discovering
northern Italy

Ideally located at the crossroads of Italy, Switzerland, and Austria, Bolzano offers a perfect three-in-one vacation. Skiers and hikers will be thrilled to explore and ski the peaks of the Italian Dolomites or venture further into Switzerland or Austria for more adventure.

Back in Bolzano, history enthusiasts will enjoy exploring the medieval city center and visiting the South Tyrol Archaeological Museum, home to the famous Neolithic mummy, Ötzi. Don’t miss the 13th-century Mareccio Castle and the Duomo di Bolzano Cathedral, which showcases a stunning blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture.
