"More than just a beautiful architect-designed house, it is above all a true family home where you feel right at home."

Charmed by this region for three generations, Louise’s family knows better than anyone that the Gulf of Santa Giulia is the perfect vacation destination. It was time to (almost) call it home! This is how Casa Di Legna (“wooden house” in Italian) came to be, brought to life by local architect Gilles Terrazzoni and decorator & architect Angélique Buisson, Louise’s mother and the proud owner of the 320m² “cabin.”

Together, they undertook the renovation of a 1960s stone building, transforming it into an impressive villa with sharp angles, expansive windows, and abundant wood elements. The result is a true Mediterranean home, seamlessly integrated into the Corsican landscape, nestled between land and sea. Just a few minutes from the beach, Casa Di Legna is the ideal spot for a perfect vacation, where you can alternate between refreshing dips in the sea and relaxing naps by the infinity pool, with your gaze drifting out to the endless Mediterranean horizon.

A home
worthy of its setting

Purchased in 2019, the renovation of Casa di Legna took two years before welcoming its first (lucky) guests. Decorator Angélique Buisson envisioned it as her own family home, choosing to emphasize a material she particularly loves—wood. This choice was a heartfelt tribute to the chalets of Chablais, her homeland nestled between the French and Swiss Alps.

Originally oriented towards the Gulf of Santa Giulia, the house has now been reoriented to embrace the horizon. “It gives a great sense of freedom,” says Louise. Indeed, the view from the terrace is breathtaking, where the pool and the sea seem to merge into one. Guests can unwind in the cool shade of the trees surrounding the villa, amid rosemary (often borrowed for a bit of cooking) and other fragrant herbs of the Corsican maquis.

"Guests greatly appreciate the peace and tranquility of the house, nestled in a well-preserved environment, far from the hustle and bustle of southern Corsica."

Inside Casa di Legna, wood reigns supreme. The impressive oak wall library in the living room, designed by Angélique, stands as a centerpiece, complemented by a solid oak table and carved oak benches created by artist Denis Milovanov. Throughout the house, beautifully crafted wooden furniture pieces blend harmoniously with the space. The clean yet thoughtfully designed decor, along with natural hues and materials, creates a wonderful sense of well-being that everyone falls in love with.

Accustomed to bringing others’ dream homes to life, Angélique allowed herself great creative freedom in designing her own. A lover of pure, unprocessed materials, she is also a passionate art enthusiast. Here and there, you can admire the graphic paintings of Alexsandar Bezinovic and the striking sculpture by Christian Caulas. In the garden, Angélique designed the large vibrated concrete table, built by Frédéric Perez, that takes pride of place on the terrace. Paired with wooden flooring and rattan light fixtures, it’s a beautifully harmonious combination that adds to the villa’s unique charm.

Corsican holidays

What does a day at Casa di Legna look like? As Louise emphasizes, before being an architect-designed house, it’s primarily a vacation home where conviviality reigns supreme. The owners recommend a perfect day: “Start with a morning coffee facing the sea while the house is still asleep, take a refreshing swim, read on the rocks, gather for lunch with family and friends, enjoy a leisurely nap, head to the beach before dinner, and then spend hours talking to the soothing sound of the cicadas.” To make your stay even more relaxing, a concierge service is available to handle all your vacation needs, from breakfast and boat reservations to restaurant bookings.

While the allure of lounging at Casa di Legna is undeniable, exploring Southern Corsica is equally rewarding! You might hike the Hermitage of the Trinity trail, stroll around Porto-Vecchio (with a recommended stop at La Gelateria), or go snorkeling in the secluded coves. Further south, the Citadel of Bonifacio is a must-see, offering breathtaking views where, in the distance, you can catch a glimpse of the Sardinian coast. Perhaps that will be your destination for your next holiday?
