In the village of La Oliva in Fuerteventura, Casa Montelongo consists of two independent, light-filled spaces with a minimalist yet elegant design, brought together by a garden with a pool and sun deck.
An artistic hideaway in Fuerteventura
"Casa Montelongo is a true haven of peace, full of charm and cool elegance. Although it sits along a road, absolute tranquility reigns the moment you step inside. The house has been tastefully designed, with every detail carefully thought out for the comfort of its guests."
Off the coast of Morocco, welcome to Fuerteventura — a land of palm trees, soft sandy beaches, and crystal-clear waters. In the charming village of La Oliva, you’ll find Casa Montelongo, a villa where architecture, art, and minimalism come together in perfect harmony.
Comprising two independent units, each designed for two guests, this vacation home charms with its refined, minimalist layout and outdoor spaces where you can soak up every ray of sunshine. A pool, a sun deck, a garden, and delicious local breakfasts complete the picture.
A house
steeped in history
Before becoming a haven for lovers of simple luxury and authenticity, Casa Montelongo was, for generations, the home of the Montelongo family, who were deeply involved in the cultural and social development of La Oliva. “This place already had a sense of greatness — you just had to listen to it…” say Borja and Raul, the owners.
Once the setting for balls, theater performances, and festive dinners, the villa now welcomes travelers in search of disconnection. Purchased in 2020, this 19th-century building has been painstakingly restored and reborn in 2024 as a discreet vacation home, designed with a slow and sunny spirit — both literally and figuratively, thanks to its energy independence.

Chic
simplicity
Behind this elegant simplicity lies the signature of Néstor Pérez Batista, a Canary Island architect based in Berlin, who designed a home in perfect harmony with its surroundings. The rooms open wide onto the patio, while the materials — stone, wood, lime, clay, glass — tell the story of the earth. And the light? It gently filters in, playing with shadows and enhancing the volumes. “We wanted a space that was both fluid and intimate, one that breathes with the sun,” explains Raul.
Here, no frills: simple lines, carefully selected artworks, quality textiles — guests sleep in 300-thread-count percale sheets, the purest form of luxury — and even the bathrooms become “temples of intimacy.” Among the treasures of the house, a hypnotic sculpture by Óscar Latuag takes pride of place above the pool. Inspired by the island’s plant forms and natural materials like cochineal and barilla stone, it casts a choreography of shifting shadows on the walls as the hours pass. “It greets the morning and bids farewell to departures,” whispers Borja.

At Casa Montelongo, people come to slow down — but also to explore. Thanks to a dedicated concierge, guests can create a personalized itinerary: a relaxing massage, a bike ride through the island’s lunar landscapes, a boat trip to Lobos Island, a surfing session to tame the waves, or a reservation at the best restaurant in La Oliva. “We’re here to make life easier for people, just like good friends would,” says Raul.
And every morning, a delicious local breakfast awaits guests at 10 or 11 a.m. — no harsh wake-up calls here; life follows the rhythm of the sun.
