"It’s a welcoming family home where you instantly feel at ease, surrounded by nature and tranquility."
Located in La Ferté-Bernard in the Perche, on the edge of Normandy, Château La Monge is a stunning 17th-century estate. Ideally positioned—close to the town center and train station—yet offering complete tranquility, it sits within a ten-hectare park, bordered by an additional ten hectares of meadows. And the best part? It’s just two hours from Paris.
Meticulously renovated in 2024 by the current owners—the fourth generation of the same family!—Château La Monge has been transformed into a haven of comfort and charm. Its warm, refined atmosphere makes it the perfect retreat for families or groups of friends (up to 12 guests) seeking a peaceful countryside escape. What’s on offer? A swimming pool, woodland walks, a visit to the adjacent farm… and, best of all, thoughtful services that make your stay even more enjoyable. Slow living at its finest, in an exceptional setting.
A château
made in Perche

The château, nestled between woods and meadows.
Built in the second half of the 17th century, Château La Monge has retained its original foundations, offering guests a true immersion in history—with a capital H! The 2024 renovation carefully preserved the authenticity of this family home while incorporating contemporary touches for enhanced comfort. This subtle blend of old and new is reflected both in the château’s exterior architecture and in its thoughtfully curated interior décor.
“In our family for over a century, each generation has contributed to preserving its authentic and welcoming spirit: a formal French garden, century-old trees, moats—special care is given to the outdoor spaces to ensure guests enjoy a truly unique and rejuvenating experience,” says the owner’s son.
A perfectly crafted
decor
The design of Château La Monge strikes a perfect balance between elegance and functionality, blending noble materials with refined décor to create a seamless fusion of history and modernity. For this renovation, the owners collaborated with interior designer Thierry Michault, founder of LIEU-DIT. Together, they envisioned an interior that embraces a bold color palette, complemented by a mix of vintage and contemporary furniture and décor—bringing a unique character to every space.
“We wanted to preserve the family spirit, making the château feel welcoming and, above all, not austere,” says the owner. A successful bet—because the moment you step into Château La Monge, you feel right at home… but even better!
Ultimate
comfort
More than just a stunning property, Château La Monge offers a wide range of services that make every stay unforgettable. Designed to accommodate up to 12 guests, it features generous living spaces, including a fully equipped (and charmingly retro) kitchen, an elegant dining room, a cozy lounge, a game room, and a home cinema. Each of the six spacious, light-filled bedrooms is designed for ultimate comfort, with some featuring King-Size beds and en-suite bathrooms.
Set on a 20-hectare estate, including a beautifully landscaped 10-hectare park, the château also boasts a heated swimming pool—available from May to September—perfect for unwinding after a day of activities. Younger guests will love visiting the adjacent farm, home to horses, donkeys, ponies, rabbits, and ducks, when they’re not busy playing football or badminton.
Not in the mood to cook? No problem! A local chef can prepare and deliver delicious meals straight to your door. At Château La Monge, château life is truly lived to the fullest!
