"This project is the promise of breathing new life into this charming home."
It is the year 2017. After returning to France from a few years in London, Alexandre and Lorène discover Château Leboscq. Set on a hill surrounded by vineyards, the château immediately caught their eye with its rich history and a hint of nostalgia. They quickly felt a deep connection to this neglected gem, filled with an undeniable charm, inspiring them to transform it into an elegant family home and vacation rental—a venture that turned out to be a resounding success. Now nestled in a quiet village close to the ocean, Château Leboscq stands as an inviting retreat where guests can enjoy a tranquil break, immersing themselves in its serene setting for a week (or two!) amidst the beauty of its surroundings.
Castle life
– tailor-made
A heritage subtly retranscribed.
Collaborating with Bordeaux-based architects A-GrAM and decorators Coutume Studio, the couple succeeded in preserving the Château’s aesthetic appeal, dealing with the marks of time wherever possible. Over two and a half years—a testament to their commitment to quality—the pine parquet flooring, woodwork, and ashlar were meticulously restored. Throughout the two floors, they kept the traditional symmetrical arrangement on either side of a lengthy corridor, preserving the classic structure.
In homage to the site’s history—once a grand bourgeois residence that fell into abandonment—Karine Pelloquin from Coutume Studio crafted mural frescoes that merge various visions. These artworks feature two characters that blend period portraits with the graffiti that once adorned the walls of the vacant Château, bridging its past with the present. Executed in a decisively modern style, these murals draw inspiration from the grand urban frescoes of London, creating a dynamic intersection of history and contemporary art.
Despite its imposing appearance, Château Leboscq is a warm and welcoming property with hushed, muted tones, where it’s good to stroll and recharge your batteries. that invite leisurely strolls and moments of rejuvenation. Each of its three daily-serviced bedrooms offers a haven of comfort, boasting hotel-quality king-size COCO-MAT beds complemented by en-suite bathrooms. These bathrooms are elegantly fitted with Calacatta Borghini marble basins, stocked with organic Océopin toiletries, and equipped with Dyson hairdryers. The Château is rich in personal touches: southwestern groceries for local flavor, a well-curated library for quiet reading, and a fully-stocked bar for evening cocktails. Music enthusiasts will appreciate the vinyl turntable, while a video projector is perfect for movie nights, ensuring every stay is filled with personalized indulgences.
This cozy nest serves as the perfect base for exploring the natural beauty of the park and surrounding vineyards. You’ll find yourself returning quickly to enjoy the natural swimming pool, designed with a movable floor for kids, mirroring the style of a swimming corridor. The crowning jewel? An astonishing floating terrace inspired by the carrelets (stilt houses typical of the Gironde estuary). This space, suspended above the landscape, seamlessly integrates with the house’s perspective. It’s the ideal spot for a barbecue, a morning yoga session, or simply soaking in the view.
Even if the idea of never leaving the property is tempting, the allure of a trip to the ocean or an exclusive afternoon tasting at a Médoc vineyard might sway you. This is effortlessly accessible with the concierge service provided during your stay, ensuring you can easily enjoy any of these experiences.
A beautiful sunset-proof perspective.
