"The atmosphere is timeless and serene, with the soothing sound of birdsong and the refreshing scent of pine trees in the air."
Between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde estuary, Kelly and Elian Travaini have reimagined Château Réal—named after its original owner in 1800—into a stunning vacation retreat that accommodates up to 22 guests. Featuring four bedrooms and five suites, it’s the perfect backdrop for tranquil mornings and festive gatherings on the terrace.
Fully equipped, the château offers a wide range of hotel-style services for a relaxing vacation and the chance to explore the region through various activities and excursions. It’s château living in Gironde, with a pool and a wooded estate nestled in the heart of a preserved natural setting.
A 19th-century estate
The tower of Château Réal overlooking the pool.
Built in 1800 by Monsieur Réal, a high-ranking officer under Napoleon, to win the heart of a woman, this estate has lived a thousand lives over the past two centuries. Embracing the classic style of Bordeaux’s grand manor houses, it is nestled between vineyards and the estuary, sitting along the wine route, surrounded by fishing huts, châteaux, beaches, and pine forests.
In 1820, vineyards were planted around the property—it is Bordeaux, after all—marking the estate’s christening as Château Réal. The aristocracy and elite were drawn to the estate, enchanted by the quality of the terroir and the magic of its setting. For 220 years, the same family cultivated the vineyards, passing the estate down through generations. In 2020, Kelly and Elian Travaini became the proud owners of this exceptional property, embarking on its renovation while carefully preserving the unique character that defines Château Réal.
"It’s a legendary estate with contemporary decor that evokes the golden age of grand crus."
A new chapter
for Château Réal
In 2020, Kelly and Elian embarked on an extensive renovation to restore Château Réal to its former glory. From interior architecture to decor, and even landscaping, they carefully selected materials, furnishings, and colors to bring the estate back to its historic splendor while infusing it with a touch of “refined, carefree modernity.”
They preserved hand-painted ceilings from the 20th century, which, according to legend, were created by an artist who stayed at Château Réal while restoring the village church. Fireplaces, exposed stone walls, moldings, Gironde tiles, and Médoc handles were meticulously maintained, complemented by contemporary elements. Throughout the property, furniture and decor from The Socialite Family, custom chairs by Maison Gatti, and armchairs from Honoré Décoration add an eclectic, modern charm to the timeless elegance of Château Réal.
A perfect blend of the old and the new at Château Réal.
