“The sunsets from the terrace or while paddling on the lake in a canoe are absolutely breathtaking! There’s a touch of Scandinavian charm here.”

Just 40 minutes from Bordeaux, Lacanau Lodge captures the essence of coastal living and a slower pace of life. Perfect for a family of four, it offers the chance to live in harmony with the lake’s rhythm, all while enjoying modern comforts and a range of amenities designed to help you relax, recharge, and savor the joys of the water.

Built on stilts and overlooking Lacanau Lake in a private estate—complete with numerous other cabins, a shared swimming pool, and a tennis court—this cozy vacation home creates the feeling of living on a boat, offering a holiday experience that’s truly out of the ordinary.

The story
of Lacanau Lodge

Lacanau Lodge, between pines and lake.

The story of Lacanau Lodge began in the 1960s, when architect Jean-Claude Moreau designed this tranquil retreat on a private estate by Lacanau Lake. From the start, the cabin has been a cherished sanctuary of peace and harmony with nature.

In 2008, a Bordeaux couple with a passion for eco-design and renovation took ownership of the cabin. Their vision? To merge minimalism, Scandinavian design, and natural wood to create a warm, modern space in harmony with the environment.

The Love Boat

The architecture of Lacanau Lodge is inspired by a boat, with its clean lines, porthole windows, and ship deck-style parquet flooring. This cabin on stilts makes the most of its space with smart storage and an atmosphere that celebrates natural materials. Inside, there’s a bright white fitted kitchen and a minimalist yet cozy living room. When the weather doesn’t cooperate, you can curl up on the sofa by the wood-burning stove with a good book.

The recent renovation restored the exposed framework and repainted the walls white to enhance the bright, airy ambiance. The furnishings, thoughtfully selected by the owners, blend wooden furniture, modular pieces, and creations either made in France or sourced from markets. The contrast of white, wood, and grey-indigo tones creates a calming atmosphere that reflects the natural surroundings.

Holidays
in Lacanau

At Lacanau Lodge, the outdoors is just as important as the indoors! The terrace, small garden, and private pontoon (shared with another cabin) offer plenty of opportunities to connect with nature. Enjoy canoe and paddle rides (provided during your stay), strolls through the pine forest, surfing sessions at the ocean just 15 minutes away by car, or make use of the soccer pitch, tennis court, swimming pool, and ping-pong tables on the private estate. This place feels tailor-made for family vacations!

“Guests at Lacanau Lodge come from all walks of life—city dwellers seeking peace and quiet or sports enthusiasts passionate about water activities. Whatever their background, they share a love for nature and slow living, and all agree that they feel right at home here,” says the owner. And we’ll take her word for it!
