In the Calvados region, at the heart of the Pays d’Auge, a charming half-timbered house with breathtaking views over the Norman countryside. A peaceful retreat nestled between rolling hills and apple orchards, designed for six to eight guests.

The perfect Normandy countryside house

"Le Clos du Haut blends the authenticity of half-timbering, stone, brick, and wooden beams with contemporary comfort, in an elegant yet laid-back style."

Owned by the same family for four generations, Le Clos du Haut—a typical 19th-century farmhouse—is now in the hands of Limor and her partner Romain. In the past, the building housed farmers and served as a dairy production workshop for goods sold at the Pont-l’Évêque market. Today, after meticulous renovations, the property retains its authenticity while providing exceptional comfort for the six to eight guests who stay there.

Spread over two levels, the house features three spacious double bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two toilets. A small upstairs living room can also serve as an extra sleeping space for an adult or a child. Passionate about local heritage, the owners spent three years restoring the house, using high-quality, environmentally friendly materials. The highlight? A terrace with breathtaking views of the Normandy countryside, perfect for enjoying unforgettable sunrises and sunsets.

Le Clos du Haut embodies the timeless charm of Normandy’s half-timbered houses. Exposed wooden beams blend seamlessly with brick and stone, creating a refined yet inviting atmosphere.

“The complete renovation of the house took over three years, carried out partly by local artisans and partly by us, with the help of our family and friends. Our goal was to preserve the authenticity of the old house while modernizing its foundations and amenities. We kept the original fireplace, brick walls, and brick-tile floors, while everything else was entirely redone using high-quality, sustainable materials—oak half-timbering, hemp and lime walls, natural stone flooring, original bricks, zellige tiles, ceramic mosaics, and handwoven wooden blinds,” says Limor.

To complement the freshly renovated interiors, the owners carefully sourced furniture, incorporating cherished pieces passed down through their families. The result? A home that feels both elegant and comforting, like a place you’ve always known.

Welcome
to the Normandy countryside

Perched above the hills, Le Clos du Haut offers a perfect retreat for relaxation and exploration in the Normandy countryside. From the raised terrace, guests can take in the rolling landscape and fruit orchards—where, in season, they are welcome to pick apples, cherries, plums, and pears straight from the trees.

Food lovers will enjoy visiting a local market or following the Cider Route, which winds through picturesque villages like Beuvron-en-Auge and Cambremer, both ranked among the most beautiful in France.

Nature enthusiasts can venture along hiking trails or head towards the Manche: the beautiful beaches of the Normandy coast, Honfleur, and Deauville are just 20 minutes away, while the cliffs of Étretat and Mont-Saint-Michel are only an hour’s drive!

The neighbors? Donkeys and cows.

A tailor-made
stay

To make every stay unique, the owners of Le Clos du Haut offer a range of à la carte services: wellness massages, yoga sessions with a view of nature, bike rentals, and 100% local gastronomic experiences—including cheese and charcuterie platters, oyster trays, or even a meal prepared by a private chef.

Rumor has it that a wellness area will soon be added, with a spa set up in the former garage of the cottage—an extra touch of relaxation to enhance the experience.

Le Clos du Haut is the perfect home base for exploring Normandy in all its splendor, no matter the season—and just two hours from Paris!
