"The atmosphere is very welcoming, and the house is bright both in summer and winter."

After a successful career in luxury hospitality in Paris, Stéphanie decided to return to her roots in the Landes region. Inspired to create a business offering hotel-style homes with all the expected services, she acquired two neighboring properties built in 2023: Maison Ernest and Maison Suzette, now part of the Cluque collection. ‘Cluque,’ a Gascon slang term, perfectly captures the essence of her vision—it means ‘an impromptu nap you take without planning, a moment of pure relaxation and pause in the day.’

A term perfectly suited to Maison Ernest, a single-story wooden home blending the charm of a cabin with the elegance of a Cap-Ferret villa. Located just 15 minutes on foot from the ocean and a short 10-minute walk from the center of Capbreton, this minimalist retreat is ideal for a family or friends’ getaway, seamlessly transitioning between the beach, the pool, and the peaceful garden. For larger groups, renting both Maison Ernest and Maison Suzette provides the perfect balance of privacy and togetherness, whether enjoying grand picnics by the ocean or relaxed barbecues at home. Vacation, Cluque-style!

A home
made in the Atlantic Coast

When Stéphanie became the proud owner of Maison Ernest—named after a close relative—the architect had already laid the groundwork for its identity: raw materials like concrete and wood paired with a natural palette of taupe, white, and cream. This soothing color scheme, reminiscent of sand and pine trees, allows the house to blend harmoniously into its 300 m² garden. The seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces is further enhanced by large openings that invite nature inside.

A design inspired by the wooden villas of Cap-Ferret, themselves a tribute to the region’s traditional oyster-farming huts.

The beauty
of simplicity

To furnish the interiors, Stéphanie opted for wooden furniture and decorative elements crafted from rattan and linen fabrics in soft, natural tones. This complements the home’s minimalist architecture, fostering a genuine sense of serenity. ‘Both houses share this blend of high-end simplicity and timeless décor—understated yet refined—mixing oak, birch, polished concrete, stone, linen, and top-quality fittings…’

Here, nothing competes for attention (except the sunlight). Bright and inviting, the house is as enjoyable in the summer as it is during other seasons, making it the perfect retreat to experience the Landes year-round.

At Maison Ernest, life flows seamlessly between indoors and outdoors.

Holidays
in Capbreton

The table is set, awaiting the lucky guests.

The table is set, awaiting the lucky guests.

At Maison Ernest, the car stays parked—the ultimate luxury is doing everything on foot or by bike. With a cycling path running right past the property, you can easily head to Hossegor or Seignosse, explore the streets of Capbreton (don’t miss the market for fresh fish and a Basque cake), wander through the pine forests, enjoy a picnic on the beach, or catch some waves for a surf session—all just minutes away.

Or, simply stay at Maison Ernest to relax by the pool, enjoy the serene garden—perhaps take a ‘cluque’ under the shade of a tree—and take advantage of concierge services like a private chef or massages. Here, the art of ‘farniente’ reaches its pinnacle.
