In Burgundy, at the heart of the family wine estate, Margaux and Baptiste have built a wooden house where they can spend weekends and vacations in the countryside. Open on all sides to the vineyards, Casa Ladoit offers a welcome break from nature.

Holidays at the mill !
PAPOTTE, at its heart, is an old flour mill that ceased operations in the late 90s. A well-known landmark in the village, the mill was purchased by a young couple from the area. This place holds special memories for Charles, who grew up and spent all his childhood holidays here, just a mere 20 minutes from Beaune with its famous hospices and renowned vineyards.
On an estate of 2.5 hectares, PAPOTTE offers a fresh, contemporary take on the Burgundy country house. The surrounding nature and the charm of a historic building are matched by the boldness of a modern, refined design. “We were keen to create a truly poetic, singular, and above all harmonious spirit to give meaning and life to this magnificent place steeped in history.”

On display: four independent, well-connected houses. A maisonette for two, bordered by the river – an ode to disconnection. A house for 4 people in pastel shades, nestled in the old bread oven, under the old beams of the mill – like a powdered cocoon. A house for 6 people, flanking the left wing of the mill, with its three bedrooms upstairs, large library, vinyl turntable, large open kitchen and private garden overlooking the river and vegetable garden. And the grand finale: the 15-person maison de maître with its seven suites, all with en suite bathrooms. A farmhouse inhabited by vines, enthroned at the very front of the estate, designed in the spirit of an Italian family residence.
PAPOTTE pampers its guests. At the fresh breakfast, served on request. At the café, where you can order an excellent latte or a speciality coffee from behind the beautiful brick counter. In the grocery shop, where you can stock up on a perfect selection of top products (with a special mention for the wine cellar, overflowing with gems finely chosen by a super wine merchant based in Beaune).
A contemporary decor
– by studio heju
The décor was designed by studio Heju. The Parisian duo of Hélène Pinaud and Julien Schwartzmann have made a name for themselves in the world of interior architecture over the last few years.
Together, they have delivered a highly successful contemporary design that is a beautiful take on spaces, lines, and curves and the use of white and waxed concrete. The décor is inspired by Scandinavian, Japanese, Italian, and even Saharan influences. The team rose to the challenge of a titanic renovation project covering more than 600 m2 in just seven months. The place is bursting with details, beautiful materials, and fine finishes: Burgundy flagstones, ribbed credenzas, architectural headboards, slatted staircases, stone tables, vaulted kitchens, tiled bathrooms…

A huge Playground
Here at Papotte, you can live at your own pace and take a well-earned break. Young and old alike will be delighted. The pond sits enthroned in the middle of the estate, and anyone will be spoilt for choice when it comes to unearthing langoustines under the rocks, milling from the banks, or sailing in the little boat – all the equipment is provided. There’s also an 800m2 vegetable garden where you’ll be able to glean from kilometer 0 the produce you’ll need for your home-cooked meals: vegetables, fruit, and aromatic herbs with a local flavor.
Around the property, there are a host of good restaurants to try on the advice of the owners and walks to see the countryside. And, of course, the vineyards: Pommard, Meursault, Volnay… are only a handful of kilometers away. The region is rich in things to drink, see, and eat.
