"The garden, with its small stream, feels like an extension of the house. We're right in the village, under large trees that provide natural shade... It's a magical place."

Born in the South and living in Velleron for 25 years, Séverine and Franck named their place Aqui, which means “here” in Provençal, to emphasize the joy of living in the moment. They envisioned it as a haven of greenery and freshness in the heart of a typically Provençal village.

Accommodating four people, the house is divided into two parts by a lush garden that serves as a living space. Access to one of the suites or the main building involves crossing a small stream. Beneath the shade of tall trees, guests savor the Southern way of life, listening to the gentle flow of water.

Built in the early nineties, Aqui underwent a complete makeover three years ago by its current owners. The plan? Redesigning spaces, using new materials and colors… Enthusiastic about decoration, gardening, and renovation, Séverine and Franck took on the work themselves, watching as their dream home took shape over time. The garden’s garage was transformed into an intimate suite, making Aqui perfect for hosting parents and their tranquility-seeking children or two couples of friends.

The garden also received a makeover: “We completely redesigned it because it was a real jungle, and now it’s the centerpiece!” Lavender, rosemary, jasmine, honeysuckle, roses—the scents of these flowers unfold under the blazing sun, transforming the garden into an oasis worth visiting. One can already imagine lounging under a tree, with birdsong and the gentle flow of water as the soundtrack…

"We created the house and garden as a genuine, simple, and welcoming retreat where vacations can be enjoyed, whether filled with busy sightseeing and biking or simply relaxing and unwinding."

The love of beauty

For a long time, Séverine worked as a head of department at Habitat before moving on to a manufacturing company specializing in blankets, shawls, and weaving. She has a deep love for Beauty with a capital B! “I enjoy thinking about how people will move around and live in a space.” With terracotta, soft local tones, and plaster like a cloud, the rooms have been designed as cozy cocoons despite their small volumes.

Séverine has a keen eye for space planning and interior decoration that enhances a lifestyle, and it shows in the house! For decor, the couple scoured for unique pieces to give character to their relatively young home. As art enthusiasts, they proudly display a life-size sculpture by artist Uzoline Cherrier, welcoming guests upon their arrival at Aqui.

A region to explore

After having breakfast under the mulberry tree alongside the squirrels that inhabit the garden, it’s time to explore the surroundings! Mont Ventoux, the Avignon Festival, the Alpilles, the antique shops of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the Chorégies d’Orange—the renowned festival of lyric art and classical music—there’s plenty to satisfy everyone’s interests.

Another option is to walk to the market—daily from April to late September—and fill your basket with local delicacies: Cavaillon melon, nougat, Picodon, and Banon cheese. Quality products and a local atmosphere are guaranteed.

Back at Aqui, it’s time to cook: “Even on vacation, it was important for us to provide travelers with everything they need to cook well because we both love to treat our friends to delicious dishes. The kitchen is fully equipped.” All that’s left to do is enjoy!

After exploring the region, it's time for a pool session in the garden.
