Set sail for Le Ferret, the fifth property in the Iconic House collection: a wooden cabin with Mexican influences, conceived as a luxurious retreat, almost secretive, nestled in a unique natural setting.

"We drew inspiration from the imagery surrounding the wooden cabins of Cap-Ferret and the region to unveil our own version."

In the heart of one of the most sought-after neighborhoods on the Pointe du Cap Ferret, the latest gem from Iconic House reveals a property designed in the spirit of a typical ‘ferretcapian’ cabin. Built to perfection by local architect Frédéric Thet, this construction stands out with its high-quality materials, heavily inspired by the oyster farming cabins of the Presqu’île. It features canal tile roofs in light tones, cladding in black-stained Pin des Landes wood, and a traditional framework. Additionally, a wing of the villa raised on stilts evokes the ‘tchanquées’ cabins of the Arcachon Basin.

At the heart of Ferret, this exclusive rental property from the Iconic House Collection, can accommodate up to 15 (happy) guests. It features seven monochrome bedrooms, including a family suite with a separate children’s room. At the far end of the garden, which preserves and multiplies a maximum of local plant species, lies the ‘cabanon’, the property’s ultimate bedroom, secluded with its private terrace—a must-see. Inside the house, a large living room and open kitchen serve as the central living spaces. Outside, you’ll find a large heated yellow pool, a centerpiece in the decor, expansive wooden terraces, an incredible outdoor cinema, and a wellness area with an outdoor sauna and fitness equipment.

“As we contemplated the project, we quickly drew parallels between the property and Mexico,” Robin Michel elaborates. “Partly because it’s a home that’s lived both inside and out with its numerous terraces, lush garden, nooks and crannies, and outdoor showers. Also, the location and initial ideas naturally evoked imagery of haciendas with buildings organized around the pool, as well as cabanas nestled in the jungle or beach villas of Baja California.”

The decor thus explores a Franco-Mexican synergy, cultivating a uniqueness never before seen at Cap Ferret. It creates a dialogue between two cultures, blending contemporary aesthetics with traditional elements, local charm with exoticism, and vibrancy with lightness. It’s a cocoon of eclectic style and diverse influences, drawing inspiration from figures like Frida Kahlo and Mexican architect Luis Barragán.

For the interior architecture, the co-founding brothers enlisted the Jaune duo: Marine Delaloy and Paula Alvarez de Toledo. Delaloy, formerly of Studio KO, and Alvarez de Toledo, from Joseph Dirand, brought their refined expertise to the project. Recognized as part of the AD 100 list in 2023, this talented pair has already made a significant impact across the Atlantic with their stunning work at Baja Club in La Paz, Mexico, establishing a deep connection with the country.

“From Hispanic heritage to the new wave of Mexican design and exceptional craftsmanship, Mexico offers us a fantastic realm of expression,” reveals Robin Michel.

The artistic curation for this project is deeply inspired by Mexico. It features a vast mural by Redfield & Dattner, envisioned as a “Mexican-Ferretcapian” dream. The property also includes an architecturally striking library designed by French rising stars Goons, paying homage to Luis Barragán. Additionally, there’s a minimalist wooden sculpture by Mexican artist Joel Escalona and a grand rose stone fireplace in the living room, referencing ex-votos by Mexican designers Ohla Studio.
