"The atmosphere is wonderfully peaceful, offering a serene lifestyle surrounded by lush trees."
In La Colle-sur-Loup, this neo-Provençal home, built in 2001, has been impeccably renovated by its current owners—natives of Nice—in collaboration with the Maison Balagane architecture studio. Spanning 350 m², Le Clos d’Allègre—named for the trees that naturally enclose the property and the local area, La Boundo d’Allègre—comfortably accommodates ten guests (or up to 12, including babies or young children). Thoughtfully designed, the home features five bedrooms: four with en-suite bathrooms and one suite with direct access to the property’s expansive one-hectare garden.
Close to some of the most stunning destinations on the French Riviera—Cagnes-sur-Mer, Saint-Paul-de-Vence—Le Clos d’Allègre offers a true taste of Mediterranean living, with so much more. High-end amenities, a pool, and dedicated services create the perfect setting for an unforgettable holiday. In summer, days are best spent by the outdoor kitchen—complete with a pizza oven—or watching the little ones play on the trampoline. Winter stays are just as magical, with cozy gatherings by the fireplace, surrounded by the home’s warm and inviting atmosphere. A tribute to the region’s artistic heritage, a reproduction of Van Gogh’s Wheat Fields takes pride of place in the living room, echoing the landscapes that have inspired generations of artists.

When the current owners acquired Le Clos d’Allègre in 2022, they embarked on an extensive renovation to restore the home’s original grandeur. Built in the early 2000s on what was once agricultural land—where violets once flourished, just 30 minutes from Grasse, the perfume capital—the house exudes the character of a much older estate, thanks to its refined architecture and the use of noble materials.
The transformation was entrusted to architects Lisa Zermati and Cédric Pourcher, co-founders of Studio Balagne in Nice. Every element was carefully considered, using only high-quality local materials: Taj Mahal granite, Verde Alpi marble from Marbrerie des Clausonnes, and a roof reimagined with triple-gingerbread terracotta tiles, a nod to local tradition. The façades were finished with lime sourced from a nearby quarry, which also provided the cornerstones. Vaulted openings and basket-handle shaped windows were introduced, lending the interiors a soft, rounded elegance. With meticulous attention to detail and flawless finishes, Le Clos d’Allègre has been beautifully reimagined, blending timeless charm with contemporary refinement.

"The gentle curves that define our interior are striking. Nothing is rigid; no sharp angles disturb the circular harmony that prevails throughout."

Beautiful
in its natural state
To furnish the interiors, nature takes center stage—once again under the creative direction of Studio Balagne. Building on the architectural work carried out during the renovation, they envisioned a natural, minimalist, and refined décor. Their palette draws inspiration from the Provençal landscape: beige from the quarries and sand, terracotta from the earth, and the deep green of the maquis.
The carefully selected materials—linen, rattan, and wood—enhance the villa’s organic aesthetic. The pièce de résistance? A large dining table crafted from a single slab of raw, solid wood. Elegant alabaster light fixtures from Nedgis cast a warm, ambient glow across the ceilings. In one of the bedrooms, a handcrafted rattan piece from a Provençal boutique decorates the wall, complemented by a sleek design lamp from Sklum France. Here, guests slip into luxurious Maison de Vacances sheets, adding an extra touch of comfort. Throughout the house, a thoughtful balance of influences—elegant yet understated—creates an atmosphere of effortless sophistication, ensuring an unforgettable stay.

A French Riviera-style
vacation
Nestled between the sea and the mountains, the charming village of La Colle-sur-Loup—whose name is believed to be linked to wolves, as the valley was once home to them until 1860—offers the best of both worlds. It’s just a short distance from the coast and from must-visit spots like Saint-Paul-de-Vence and Cagnes-sur-Mer. Nature lovers can enjoy hikes through the surrounding hills or stroll along the shaded banks of the Loup River, perfect for family picnics. Just a few minutes away, Saint-Paul-de-Vence reveals its cobbled streets, renowned art galleries, and the undeniable charm of its medieval town atmosphere.
On the other side, Cagnes-sur-Mer offers inviting beaches, the renowned Grimaldi Castle and Museum, and a picturesque seaside promenade perfect for leisurely strolls. For the more adventurous, the Gorges du Loup provide thrilling opportunities for canyoning and rock climbing. And for food lovers? The local cuisine shines in traditional restaurants, where every meal is infused with the warm, welcoming atmosphere that defines the region.
