"It's a true postcard-perfect setting, a bright house surrounded by pine trees, with complete privacy."

After more than a year and a half of renovations, Anaïs and Bertrand have revived this stone building—likely dating back to the 18th century—left abandoned for nearly 20 years before their arrival. This stunning two-story bourgeois house, Maison de Magescq (named after the village where it’s located), is surrounded by pine trees and a spacious lawn. Just 15 minutes from the beaches along the Atlantic Ocean, it offers the perfect retreat from the summer crowds of Hossegor and other nearby seaside resorts.

Maison de Magescq, fully renovated with high-quality materials and tasteful furnishings, delights all who stay here. The interiors feature six suites and a dormitory, comfortably accommodating 12 adults and four children. With premium amenities, guests enjoy luxury around the clock—from the Sage coffee machine to the Egyptian cotton bed linens. What truly sets it apart is the extensive range of hotel services available through a dedicated concierge.

The story
of a Landes house

Here and there, beautiful pieces of marble.

Here and there, beautiful pieces of marble.

In the Landes, wooden surf houses, villas, or farmhouses with a Basque influence are common sights. The area certainly boasts plenty of beautiful vacation homes. However, two-century-old stone manors are rare gems. Likely built around 1800, Maison de Magescq retains original features such as parquet floors, mosaics, and intricate moldings from that period. Over the years, it belonged to just two families, welcoming several generations through its doors.

In 2022, after 15 years in Asia and countless stays in the Landes, Anaïs and Bertrand became the proud new owners. They embarked on a year-and-a-half-long renovation, expanding the porch, converting the upper floors into spacious, luxurious suites, and restoring the frescoes and moldings with the expertise of a traditional plasterer. And there’s more to come: a swimming pool is set to be added in spring 2025!

Old shell,
contemporary interiors

When Anaïs and Bertrand took ownership of Maison de Magescq, they added their unique touch to the property—quite literally, in marble. Anaïs, the founder of Manifeste, a French brand specializing in natural stone furnishings, used her expertise to enhance the home’s elegance. Marble accents can now be found in all the bathrooms and other key areas of the house, restoring its former splendor.

Anaïs went further by designing custom wooden sofas and furniture, blending raw materials like lime paint, wood, and marble. The result is an interior that respects the home’s heritage while adding a contemporary, inviting warmth.

They’ve also curated local art, featuring pieces by Maitre Ya, a calligrapher and street artist, as well as ceramics from Atelier Caiada and lighting by Crea-Re Studio—unique items that guests are welcome to purchase as souvenirs.
