Masseria Belvedere
In the Apulia region, a 16th-century farmhouse overlooking the Adriatic Sea
On the heel of the Italian boot, between Bari and Brindisi, lies a beautifully renovated masseria—a large family-run farmhouse typical of Apulia. This expansive property accommodates up to 16 guests and offers panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea from its 1.5-hectare garden. It’s the perfect setting for a memorable holiday with family or friends, where the charm of traditional Italian architecture meets the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
In the Apulia region, a 16th-century farmhouse overlooking the Adriatic Sea
"The house is perched atop a hill overlooking the sea. It has always been called 'Belvedere' for a good reason."
In Apulia, it’s not uncommon to come across a masseria, whether in good condition or not. These fortified stone farmhouses, typical of the region, date back to the 15th and 16th centuries. Originally, they housed the landowners of the surrounding farmland. Today, they’ve taken on a new life as luxurious retreats. One shining example is Masseria Belvedere, a beautifully restored farmhouse meticulously modernized by local architects to meet the needs of even the most discerning guests.
From this property, the panoramic view of the Adriatic is simply breathtaking. Inside, Masseria Belvedere is cleverly divided into two wings: the old stables and the original masseria, forming an L shape that overlooks a central enclosed garden complete with terraces and a pool. It’s the perfect vacation home for spending quality time with up to 16 people, as everything has been thoughtfully arranged to enhance your stay: concierge service, a variety of activities, spacious communal areas, a beach volleyball court, numerous terraces, and a bathroom for each bedroom. All that’s left is to relax and enjoy!
A masseria transformed
into a luxurious villa
Local tiles blend with the original stone.
The inspired architect-owners behind the renovation of Masseria Belvedere? The local studio Valari. “There is no other historic masseria in the region with a sea view that has been renovated with such care, without adding any new rooms, in a respectful manner, making every added detail both simple and contemporary.” The three owners fell in love with it, especially for its breathtaking view. Anyone who sets their eyes on this slice of the Mediterranean will understand why.
They embarked on a meticulous restoration, completed in 2021, to breathe new life into the building while honoring its history. Using local materials and preserving its original charm—golden stone walls and high vaulted ceilings—Valari ensured that every nook and cranny was ingeniously transformed into a welcoming space. The result is a seamless blend of old-world charm, unique original features, and subtly luxurious contemporary design, offering guests an unforgettable experience steeped in both tradition and modern elegance.
Bath + sea view: the perfect vacation equation.
Indoor-outdoor
vacation
The outdoor areas of Masseria Belvedere alone make the stay worthwhile. The main gathering spot for planning the next day’s activities? The central enclosed garden, which is accessible from almost every room on the ground floor of both the stables and the masseria. Another favorite spot is the spacious outdoor dining area overlooking the pool, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the distant sea.
For starry dinners, the summer kitchen comes equipped with a pizza oven and a barbecue. Don’t miss a visit to the vegetable garden to pick fresh produce for grilling or topping homemade pizzas. For dessert, enjoy a tart made with lemons from the orchard. The highlights? The beach volleyball court and the panoramic terrace on the first floor, featuring a bar and a jacuzzi, perfect for sipping a drink while taking in the sea view.
