"The villa exudes a very calming and tranquil atmosphere, just ten minutes from the town."
In Puglia, beautiful buildings abound, and while one might first think of the iconic trulli with their white walls and conical roofs, Villa Cardo offers a refreshing departure from this tradition. Designed by British architect and designer Andrew Trotter (known for the palazzotto Casa Soleto), the villa stands out with its clean, straight lines.
Nestled in the heart of an olive grove with panoramic views of the countryside, Villa Cardo is a true haven of peace, designed to host eight guests. Every detail has been meticulously planned: hotel-level services, a cinema room, a hammam, and a pool. Design lovers will admire the architecture throughout their stay, likely already planning their next visit.

To design Villa Cardo, Andrew Trotter drew inspiration from traditional trulli and Mediterranean houses, “which stand out in the landscape with their sculptural shapes and white contrasts against the sun-drenched earth.”
The materials used were sourced from local quarries, including tufa, a limestone known for its resilience to temperature fluctuations. Inside, vaulted ceilings and strategic cutouts in the façades promote natural ventilation throughout the rooms—especially appreciated when the Puglian sun is at its peak.
Each room has been crafted with a “simple and essential” design, reflecting the minimalist aesthetic of the exterior. The limestone floors provide an ideal backdrop for a mix of vintage and contemporary furniture. Villa Cardo is a true architectural gem, as stunning to behold as it is to inhabit.

Comfort and authenticity
“Our homes offer a blend of modern amenities and authentic charm, ensuring a memorable stay and experience for our guests.” Villa Cardo features four bedrooms and various living spaces, including a dining area for large gatherings, terraces, and a cinema room. While rain is rarely a concern here, a cozy film afternoon is always welcome. The highlight of the house? The master suite, complete with a veranda overlooking the sea, a private garden, and an outdoor shower.
In the Mediterranean garden, guests can unwind on the terrace, which is equipped with a summer kitchen, barbecue, and wood-fired oven. In addition to the main house, an old lamia—a traditional country house—accommodates two guests. Surrounded by almond and olive trees, with the Puglian countryside stretching into the distance, it’s a postcard-perfect landscape that never loses its charm.

After starting the day on such a delicious note, it only gets better: yoga classes, massages, personal training sessions, or even boat rentals for a dip in the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean, just ten minutes from the villa. To wrap up the day, a chef can host a pizza party or prepare an authentic Apulian feast, ensuring a perfect end to an unforgettable experience.
