"The atmosphere of the house is unique, with every detail carefully considered to ensure guests have everything they need for daily comfort. Santa Lazo has a special soul and charm."
Built in 1650, Santa Lazo sits on Rue Grande, once the bourgeois heart of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, home to the village’s great noble families. The exact history of the house is still somewhat unknown, despite documents and photographs found on-site.
Today, Santa Lazo—named in reference to Italy and the family name of its owners—belongs to a couple passionate about art, always seeking new inspirations and emerging talents to showcase. Their encounter with this home felt like fate, drawn in by its charm and exceptional location. With two double bedrooms—one overlooking the village, the other with views of the sea and mountains—and two bathrooms, the property comfortably accommodates four guests. A perfect place to experience life at the pace of the French Riviera.
Preserved
architecture
Santa Lazo underwent a major renovation in 2007 under the guidance of its former owner, who carefully preserved its authentic character. Like the entire village, the building is classified and has retained its original, elegant lines.
In 2021, the current owner, an interior designer, undertook a new renovation, skillfully enhancing the existing materials. Her goal was to create a solid and neutral foundation—a true blank canvas where period elements such as terracotta tiles and traditional plaster blend seamlessly with subtle contemporary touches and modern comforts.
The entrance leads through a private vestibule to the first floor, where a spacious open living area combines a lounge, dining room, and small kitchen. The second floor is entirely dedicated to a bright master suite, while the top level features a second bedroom, an office, and an adjoining bathroom. From here, you can take in breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and the surrounding mountains.

In the heart of the village, Santa Lazo!
Inspired and inspiring
interiors
What we love most about Santa Lazo? Its understated yet refined decor, where art takes center stage. A true living gallery, the house evolves with each new acquisition, as the owners regularly refresh the space. The color palette, inspired by the original living room frescoes, creates a beautifully harmonious and inviting atmosphere.
The furniture is a subtle blend of contemporary pieces and vintage finds, lovingly sourced. Among the house’s treasures is a Miró lithograph displayed in the living room, a nod to the Maeght Foundation and the village’s artistic history. The jasmine-covered balcony is another favorite—a perfect spot to enjoy a coffee in the sun.

in Saint-Paul-de-Vence

Breakfast to the sound of the village gently waking up.
“Guests who stay at Santa Lazo are looking for a peaceful retreat, far from the hustle and bustle of the French Riviera. They seek a unique atmosphere that can’t be found elsewhere—the Provençal dolce vita,” says Élise, the owner.
Staying at Santa Lazo means immersing yourself in the charm of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, one of the most beautiful villages on the French Riviera. Wandering through its cobbled streets, exploring art galleries, and admiring its exceptional heritage are among the simple pleasures that make this destination so special.
Must-do activities include: a visit to the Maeght Foundation, a modern art haven nestled in nature, and lunch at La Colombe d’Or, the legendary restaurant where many renowned artists have dined. For a swim in the Mediterranean, the beaches are just 30 minutes away by car. And for those looking to stay active, guests can access a nearby hotel pool for an additional fee. Plenty of ways to make the most of your stay!
