"This home warmly welcomes those who desire a moment to relax, encouraging them to step back and immerse themselves in the surroundings."
This visually striking yet harmoniously integrated 130m² residence is nestled within a vast 3000m² natural expanse, providing an intimate setting designed for leisurely relaxation in absolute tranquility. The house’s design is calming, with spaces thoughtfully arranged to ensure a smooth flow, free from unnecessary details. It’s a place where living feels effortless. A great deal of careful consideration has gone into this meticulous design, preserving the spirit of a bygone era while offering modern comfort.
Caring for the past
The history of Villa Anémone is deeply rooted in the cultural inheritance of one multigenerational family from Carqueiranne. Beyond the village’s coastal activities, further inland, families of artisans have thrived, nurturing flowers across a few generations. Originally named after the cultivation of anemones on its plot, the house was purchased by a village native, born into a family of horticulturists in the surrounding lands. The current resurgence of anemone cultivation stands as the most compelling evidence of the commitment to honoring the land, preserving its history, and solely delicately enhancing this property.
Hand-picked minimalist furniture adorning the house
Embracing a monochrome contemporary aesthetic, Villa Anémone underwent a thoughtful transformation in 2018, culminating in its completion in 2021. While leaning towards brutalist modernism, this style finds balance through a traditional, non-flat roof design. The essence of the region’s architectural identity is evident in its tiled roofs, the earthy tones adorning the façade, and the textured sandblasted concrete terrace, seamlessly integrating the villa with the surrounding nature.
Upon entering, the framed entrance door, veiled by frosted glass, offers a glimpse into the tranquil ambiance of the house. Inside, attention to detail is evident, with bespoke elements like micro terrazzo flooring, stainless steel kitchens, and tailored-made furnishings “reminiscence of an igloo”. The most majestic and yet the most see-through feature – which is appropriately ironic – is the large corner window without a frame, inviting nature to adorn the living room.
The Greatness of Simplicity
The main living space and the three sea-facing bedrooms, each with ensuite bathrooms featuring colorful tiles, provide breathtaking views that capture the essence of each moment. As night falls, the villa transforms, bathed in a soft, moonlit glow. This magical atmosphere is a testament to the villa’s thoughtful design, which seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces. Here, guests can arrive, relax, and leave, having fully experienced the villa’s tranquil and functional charm. Even after guests depart, the serene spirit of the place remains beautifully intact.
“Preserved” is also the right word to describe the surrounding islands of Carqueiranne, such as Porquerolles, comprising Port-Cros, Île du Levant, and the island of Bagaud. These islands present a naturally captivating landscape with secluded coves, lush Mediterranean vegetation, and breathtaking sea panoramas. Together, they form a conserved natural ensemble, the Golden Isles, embodying an untouched beauty.
