A vacation home vibe

It was interior designer Céline Lavigne who lent a hand to the owners in giving Villa Sixtine a makeover in 2024. Together, they envisioned ‘an elegant and comfortable vacation home that invites relaxation. In the living room, neutral tones are enhanced by beautiful materials and touches of color that evoke the landscapes of the Bay.’

When it comes to decor, say goodbye to seashells and boat anchors. Instead, you’ll find minimalist and contemporary pieces. Yet, the home retains its warmth and instantly feels like a place where you belong (only better!).

The white wood, echoing the local fishermen’s huts, paired with rattan—found in lampshades, rugs, and storage—creates a very cozy atmosphere. You can already picture yourself enjoying the house after a day at the beach, with sandy feet and a sun-kissed glow.

To furnish the charming home, inspiration came from light wood furniture left by the previous owners. Then, reliable pieces were added to the mix: Sarah Lavoine light fixtures, terrazzo sinks, and retro Walter lamps in the master suite… In the garden, sturdy yet beautiful furniture from Fermob complements the space. These are beloved references that fit Villa Sixtine perfectly.

‘We wanted comfortable and durable amenities,’ the host shares with us. The house is also equipped with solar panels that provide energy for air conditioning, electric vehicle charging, and the saltwater pool. Built to withstand the test of time (and vacationers), it’s perfect for accommodating large families.

Vacations in the Bassin

In the heart of the village of Lège-Cap-Ferret, the bakery and market are just a few minutes’ walk from Villa Sixtine. It’s perfect for stocking up on local goodies to enjoy on the terrace: fresh fish, Dunes Blanches (cream-filled chouquettes), Arcachon caviar… Prefer oysters with a view of the bay? Head to Cabane 57 or Chez Boulan.

Once the meal is finished, there are plenty of activities to pass the time. Take a stroll through the village of l’Herbe—don’t miss the impressive Chapelle de la Villa Algérienne—or enjoy a waffle at Chez Frédélian, bike around the bay, or relax on the beach by the bay or the ocean. Another equally delightful option is to curl up with a book (the owners provide the latest bestsellers) by the pool at Villa Sixtine, in the lush garden, while soaking in the tranquility. It’s the good life at Cap Ferret.
