Nestled on a hill, the exceptional Villa Talamo overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea. Dating back to the 18th century, this quintessential Tuscan building is now a vacation home for up to 20 guests, offering the estate, a pool, direct beach access, and a full range of hotel-style services.

An estate overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea

"The estate is a delightful place to stay, no matter the season."

At the southernmost tip of Tuscany, Villa Talamo sits at the heart of a sprawling Mediterranean estate. Built in 1700, the property has lived many lives. Originally a convent, it was acquired in the 1990s by the father of current owner Massimiliano Zampolli. “My father, originally from Milan, had experienced the glamour of the Riviera in the 1960s and 1970s, but was looking for a place with a milder climate,” Massimiliano explains.

In search of tranquility and a gentler climate, he discovered this villa—a place that would become his family’s peaceful retreat for years to come. Meticulously renovated in 1994, Villa Talamo, with its yellow façade and deep green shutters, perfectly embodies Tuscan charm and architecture. Surrounded by nature and framed by the sea, the estate spans three hectares of lush Mediterranean vegetation and palm trees. Add to that an infinity pool and a full range of hotel-style services, and the picture is complete.

A Tuscan
villa

Once isolated, the Maremma region surrounding the villa was largely uninhabitable before the 1920s. “The villa is an architectural rarity, a remnant of the noble residences that once dotted the region,” says Massimiliano.

Villa Talamo saw its final renovation in 1994, guided by architects Piero Castellini Baldissera and Paola Orsi. Their mission: to preserve the villa’s historic soul while updating it with modern comforts. Inside, the décor strikes a perfect balance between classic Italian country house charm and subtle exotic touches. Spacious rooms feature exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors, vintage furniture, and family heirlooms—creating a warm, character-filled atmosphere that feels both elegant and lived-in.

"Villa Talamo has always been our home, and we want our guests to experience it as we do, to feel the same emotions that made us fall in love with this place."

At Villa Talamo, it’s not just the architecture and décor that captivate—it’s the whole experience that makes a stay truly memorable. Thanks to an attentive concierge service, guests get to discover the very best of the region: olive picking, tastings of the renowned Mazzei wines, a refreshing dip in the infinity pool, or a yoga session on the terrace with sweeping sea views. There’s something for everyone, all wrapped in effortless Tuscan elegance.

From the garden, direct access to a private beach allows travelers to enjoy the crystal-clear waters of the Talamone Gulf in complete peace. A few kilometers away, one can explore the stunning Parco Naturale della Maremma for a hike or bike ride. For a cultural touch, head to Grosseto, Orbetello, or Porto Santo Stefano, where history with a capital H and Tuscan dolce vita blend perfectly.
