It’s worth noting that a rural setting doesn’t rule out stylish homes; quite the opposite… Whether it’s an old mill in the Perche, a transformed farmhouse, a quaint house by the Seine, or a sprawling tree-lined estate, the bare minimum when heading to the countryside is to feel even better than at home.
To escape to the countryside, here are the best charming spots you need to know, easily accessible from Paris!
The Chevreuse Valley
A green getaway just an hour from Paris
Picnic in the park of La Rambolitaine.
The Chevreuse Valley can be enjoyed (and appreciated) all year round. Stroll through the Rambouillet Forest in search of mushrooms, hike around the charming villages of Dampierre-en-Yvelines or Saint-Rémy-les-Chevreuse, shop at the large market and then picnic in the park of the Palace of Versailles, or bike or ride horses around the ponds of Hollande… There’s no shortage of options and activities!
Lunch on the grass at La Rambolitaine.
To stay there, local characterful buildings have been carefully renovated by inspired owners and welcome us for a vacation: Au Bout du Verger in the picturesque village of Les Molières and La Rambolitaine in Poigny-La-Forêt.
The former is a charming local pavilion surrounded by orchards and fields, exuding an Asian vibe inside. It’s a unique countryside home, spacious at 150 m², accommodating up to 15 guests. The latter, nestled in a nine-hectare wooded park, consists of a former farmhouse and its stables transformed into a country house with a pool, just an hour from Paris. A family property immersed in nature, designed for 15 guests. Both feature seven bedrooms, making them perfect for a weekend or even longer. You feel right at home, thanks to the owners’ warm and attentive hospitality.

The Perche
The promise of a countryside getaway in the Perche
A green getaway at Maison French Bon Temps.
It’s no longer a secret that the Perche has many advantages: its proximity to the capital, its picturesque villages perfect for leisurely strolls all day, its gastronomy—Calvados, cider, black pudding, goose rillettes—and its landscapes to be admired during a walk or hike…
When it comes to accommodations, the homes in the Perche certainly don’t disappoint! Une Maison dans le Perche and Maison French Bon Temps charm guests with their 100% local appeal: terracotta tiles, stone, brick, and lime, all set in vast gardens nestled between meadows and woods. It’s the perfect opportunity for a well-deserved countryside escape. At Val Gaudry, you’ll spend your holidays in a spacious, fully renovated 19th-century stone farmhouse that you won’t want to leave.

Architecture enthusiasts will want to check out Maison Sauvage, a contemporary cabin in the woods. With its spacious, well-equipped kitchen, large terrace, and thoughtful layout, the house is perfect for accommodating eight guests.
