Goudes Mood

Lorène, who had spent many summers in Marseille, already knew the city’s potential well, but it was only recently—in late 2022—that she and her partner discovered Les Goudes. Captivated by the turquoise waters, quaint restaurants, and seaside village atmosphere, they decided to look for a pied-à-terre there. They struck gold! A small two-story fisherman’s hut with a terrace was up for sale. Without hesitation, Alexandre and Lorène became the joyful owners of what would soon be Goudes Mood, a place where everything needed refurbishing, giving them the perfect opportunity to leave their (very cool) mark.

They transformed the building, a true emblem of Les Goudes, in 2024. With its terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, the cliffs of the Calanques National Park, and the picturesque port of Les Goudes, the hut already had a lot going for it. But post-renovation, the result is truly remarkable. Downstairs, the cozy rooms were designed for restful nights, while upstairs, the living area is bathed in light—regardless of the weather—thanks to large windows. It’s a place to enjoy oneself from morning till night, and from night till morning!

From the choice of hues to the light fixtures, nothing was left to chance! Lorène and Alexandre conducted extensive research to use local materials and collaborate with local artisans and designers. Inspired by the chalky rock of the Calanques, they selected lightly polished concrete and a natural lime palette, adding playful, slightly pop touches: the ochre room, as warm as the sun, and the pink room, reminiscent of the walls and roofs of Provencal houses.

As for the zelliges in the walk-in showers, they are not only beautiful but also pay homage to Marseille’s North African heritage, their shape reminiscent of fish scales, just like the shell-shaped wall sconces and sea urchin designs. ‘Throughout the house, we chose rounded shapes as an echo of the Southern way of life.’ One can notably recognize pieces by local designer Axel Chay, whose work embodies gentleness and colors, almost as if specially designed for Goudes Mood!

Marseille’s vibrant artistic, culinary, and artisanal scene has long been a magnet for Parisians seeking the sea. Just 20 minutes away in Les Goudes, vacations become a blend of relaxation and laid-back charm. Goudes Mood is the perfect base for hiking in the Calanques, exploring the coastline and islands by boat, lounging on rocky beaches in true Marseillaise fashion, and taking refreshing swims just steps from your door.
