Tourouvre au Perche
Maison French Bon Temps
In Normandy, a house with a cottage vibe to spend some quality time in
Completely renovated, with a modern wooden extension and equipped with a swimming pool, this Perche farmhouse has been given new life by Sarah and her partner. The eight of us enjoy the fresh air on a spacious three-hectare estate.
In Normandy, a house with a cottage vibe to spend some quality time in
"It's a house where you can relax, enjoy yourself, and embrace a warm, friendly atmosphere."
Sarah Crosetti—better known by her pseudonym @frenchbontemps—and her partner took on the challenge of transforming a somewhat decrepit 200 m² farmhouse, dating from 1800, into a charming country home. When they first visited on a rainy October day, they had to use their imagination to see the potential of the property, located in the small village of Prépotin in the Perche region. After more than a year of work, Maison French Bon Temps was born, welcoming its first guests in 2023.
It’s a true transformation: the picturesque charm remains intact, now paired with modern comfort. A large wooden extension with picture windows and a homemade pergola invite guests to fully enjoy the three-hectare garden and pool area. Inside, cozy nooks have been designed as perfect retreats, where eight people can curl up by the stove with a book when the weather turns. And all this just two hours from Paris—city dwellers in need of nature now know where to escape!
Welcome to Normandy
A firm believer in the charm of the Perche region, Sarah is well aware that it’s not the sunniest place in France—but that’s no problem! Together with her partner, they envisioned a home that embraces the outdoors, offering views of nature—meadows where deer roam and forests alive with birdsong—while being warm and inviting inside. Their inspiration? Cozy English cottages, where curling up under a blanket with tea and cookies, listening to the rain, is pure bliss. After all, the English coast isn’t too far away.
With soft lighting, William Morris floral wallpaper, vintage furniture, exposed beams, stone walls, and terracotta floor tiles, the gamble has certainly paid off. The house feels anything but old-fashioned, exuding the freshness of a recent renovation. It’s an enchanting setting where you can take time to savor the simple pleasures—or do nothing at all.

“When the weather's fine, we have breakfast under the pergola with a beautiful view of the garden.”
Reunion of family
and friends
The office-library corner where you can leaf through a book. Sarah Crosetti
As its name suggests, Maison French Bon Temps is all about good vibes. A true HQ for friends and family, it was lovingly renovated with the help of Sarah and her partner’s loved ones. Designed for gatherings, the large, convivial spaces are perfect for bringing everyone together: you can whip up a meal in the spacious, well-equipped kitchen—complete with a large waxed concrete worktop—before enjoying it at the three-meter-long wooden dining table, which seats ten guests. All the while, you have a beautiful view of the garden through the large picture windows.
Afterward, everyone can retreat to one of the house’s cozy corners for some quiet time. Whether it’s in the winter garden, the study—with its well-stocked library—or on one of the sofas by the stove, perhaps watching a film on the video projector, there’s a spot for everyone. Add a cup of hot chocolate, and you’re all set!
Happiness is in the Perche
“There’s a great sense of calm when you arrive here.” Indeed, nestled in the heart of a three-hectare estate, the house offers a peaceful retreat (though there are a few neighbors around). The surrounding area provides a variety of rural activities: picking hazelnuts, walnuts, blackberries, and mushrooms, walking to the Abbaye Notre-Dame de la Trappe or around the nearby lakes, horseback riding, and visiting the local permaculture farm.
Normandy’s natural and cultural heritage is complemented by its renowned gastronomy. At the Prépotin market, just a short walk from the house, you’ll find Sarah’s favorite market gardeners, offering fresh vegetables and regional products like pâtés, honey, and apple juice. You can even have them delivered. Another option is a visit to Mortagne-au-Perche, where you can enjoy roast chicken and pommes grenaille on Sunday lunchtime, followed by a coffee on the village terrace. Simple pleasures, perfectly executed!
