"The house's tall, vertical design lets you feel like you're up in the trees, offering a bird's-eye view of the surroundings."
Percherons at heart for several years, Antoine and Clarence discovered this clearing during a walk in the forest in 2020, within the Perche Regional Natural Park. They immediately envisioned their dream home here. Just two hours from Paris, the location is secluded yet conveniently accessible, making it the perfect spot to establish Maison Sauvage.
The wooden cabin, built from scratch, will be ready by spring 2024. With its spacious, well-equipped kitchen—perfect for the feasts the owners love to host—its large terrace, and its thoughtful design, the house is ideal for a joyful vacation for eight. The agenda? Soak up the greenery, cook local specialties, and explore the beauty of the Perche.

With a keen artistic eye—Clarence Edgard-Rosa, a journalist and founder of the independent feminist magazine Gaze, and Antoine Belekian, co-founder of the fashion brand Études Studio—brought their specific vision to life for their Percheron retreat.
Both lovers of architecture, fashion, and new wave, Antoine and Clarence bring distinct aesthetics to their shared vision. Antoine prefers right angles and raw concrete, while Clarence’s world is full of curves with a touch of whimsy. The merging of their styles, combined with the influence of architect Hugo Haas—known for iRASSHAi, the Veja offices, and the restaurant Le Cheval d’Or—resulted in a unique wooden cabin with a distinctive identity, far from the traditional longères found in the Perche. It’s a true home where minimalism meets conviviality, much to the delight of their guests.
"From the outside, the house looks like it was drawn by a child, but once you step inside, it’s very stylish."
Life inside-out
Located in a Natura 2000 wooded area (so very preserved!), the house was designed with a strong focus on respecting its environment. Nestled among chestnut trees, oaks, and birches, the cabin’s slightly gray wooden walls and tiled roof blend seamlessly into nature. Inside, wood dominates, with the exception of the concrete living area on the ground floor.
Each floor of the cabin, designed to be elevated for a tree-top living experience, features monochromatic rooms. The artistic duo curated a color palette that mirrors the natural surroundings: a caramel dormitory that echoes the wood, a terracotta bedroom inspired by vintage tiles from the Perche, and a fir-green bathroom… The result? A constant impression of inside-outside living, enhanced by the large openings, which we absolutely love.

in the forest

When the sun shines, life at Maison Sauvage revolves around the outdoors: lounging in the hammock, enjoying leisurely lunches on the terrace, and wandering through the adjacent forest… the possibilities are endless! When the weather doesn’t cooperate, the interior is equally inviting. Vintage finds, particularly the decor and tableware sourced from the region, blend seamlessly with contemporary pieces. The furnishings reflect the house’s essence: minimalist, beautiful, and warm. The walls are adorned with photographs Clarence particularly loves, including a flower by Hanna Pallot and a portrait of Shere Hite by Iris Brosch.
Nestled on the sofa in the living area near the wood stove, you can enjoy the many carefully selected books by the hostess: feminist essays, novels (in French and English), cookbooks… You might grab one of the cookbooks to whip something up in the well-equipped kitchen, which overlooks the trees and birdhouses while peeling carrots. This is the slow life at Maison Sauvage: surrounded by nature, beauty, and conviviality—the perfect recipe for the best vacation.
